Welcome to Joy in Christ Church!

We are a community of believers gathered around the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We worship together, serve together, learn together, and celebrate community together.

As a partner congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America , we are part of the New England Synod.  We worship each week at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, following a Lutheran form of worship that includes readings from the Old and New Testaments, a message for children and a sermon, an offering, prayers, and Holy Communion.  We praise God with a variety of music from the Lutheran Book of Worship, the newer With One Voice Hymnal, and a collection of more contemporary songs gathered in our Contemporary Worship Binder.

Our members come from Abington, Whitman, Rockland, Hanson, Bridgewater and Brockton, as well as Pembroke, Weymouth, Stoughton and Plymouth.  We are gathered together by the grace of God.  We love and support one another and the greater community, bringing worship each month to the residents of Colony House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center...supporting the Abington and Whitman Food Pantries...participating in the Ecumenical Services of the Whitman Ministerial Association...gathering gifts for the clients of Lutheran Social Services and the local community...knitting prayer blankets.

We explore God’s word at worship...during weekly Bible Study...at seasonal midweek prayer...in conversation....in occasional forums...and in prayer.  Questions are welcome and we wrestle with the answers as we listen for God’s direction.  Our Sunday School is a small, multi-age gathering of children and youth that includes singing, lessons, projects and crafts, and our Confirmation youth assist at worship and participate in service projects.

Fellowship is an important part of our community and we gather following worship for coffee, conversation and refreshments.  We enjoy game nights, soup suppers, an annual yard sale, and seasonal gatherings (including an annual glug party for our seniors!)

God has blessed us with love and support in times of joy and in times of crisis...and we are delighted to open our doors and our hearts to all, extending that love and support to others.

When the first disciples approached Jesus, curious about this new teacher and the good news he came to bring, the invitation was simple:  Come and see.

We extend that invitation to you.  Come and see how God is at work among us.  Come and see how God is at work in you.

Peace and blessings+
